Description
Our rich, steak-like halibut fillets come from fish that swim deep off the coast of Nova Scotia. Once caught by KOSH’s co-op of fishermen, they’re portioned into convenient skinless 8-ounce fillets and frozen at the source to preserve peak freshness. is delicious, an avalanche of snow-white flakes you can build a summertime seafood fest around, but its meaty texture and natural oils means it also stands up to longer cooking. Try it as the star of a bouillabaisse, spicy chraim or Pacific Northwest chowder recipe.
Halibut is best served with a rich, buttery or oily sauce to ensure it doesn't dry out.
- Pan: Heat a skillet over high heat until sizzling hot. Add halibut and sear for 90 seconds on each side. Reduce heat to medium and cook until the fish flakes easily with a fork, 2 to 3 minutes per side.
- Oven/Roast: Bake at 400°F until halibut is just opaque and flesh flakes when cut with a fork, about 10 to 15 minutes.
